Education & Training Background

Originally from Afghanistan, Dr. Roya Saffary obtained her medical degree from the University of Maryland and subsequently completed a residency in anesthesiology at Boston Medical Center. She then pursued specialized training with a fellowship in operating room management at Stanford University, where she developed her expertise in the complex field of perioperative leadership and optimization.

Following her fellowship, she joined the Stanford faculty and is now a member of the multi-specialty division, reflecting her broad expertise and collaborative approach to perioperative care across surgical specialties.

Clinical Focus & Leadership Roles

Dr. Saffary's primary focus is operating room management, staffing and quality improvement, areas critical to optimizing patient care and healthcare delivery efficiency. She serves as the co-director of the OR management fellowship, helping to train the next generation of perioperative leaders in the specialized skills needed for effective operating room administration.

She currently serves as the Associate Program Director of the newly established HALM fellowship at Stanford Health Care, contributing to the development of innovative training programs that address the evolving needs of healthcare leadership and management.
